Scripture Focus:
Hebrews 3:5 (NIV) — “Moses was faithful as a servant [therapon] in all God’s house, bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future.”
We see brokenness all around us, and we believe God is restoring what has been lost. Most of us assume that this work of restoration is something God is doing, not something we are part of. What if God is inviting us to more?
Over the last several weeks, we’ve explored four Greek words for servant: doulos, latreuo, diakonos, and huperetes. Each one has shown us something deeper about following Jesus. There is one more word: therapon, used in Hebrews to describe Moses. It refers to a servant whose steady presence brings care and restoration. It is the root of our English word therapy.
Moses wasn’t doing anything extraordinary. He simply stayed close to God, and through that closeness, God’s own restoring heart moved through him—pointing a broken, wandering people back to the One who hadn’t given up on them.
That same God now lives in us through His Spirit, and His invitation is the same: to join Jesus in bringing healing to all that is broken. As we stay close to Him, we begin to reflect His heart in real, everyday ways—staying with a friend who is struggling, bringing calm into a tense conversation, showing up consistently for someone who feels forgotten.
This is what it means to live as a Kingdom Laborer: people who reflect the healing life of Jesus because they live close to the Great Physician.
