Are you looking for Christian women’s conference speakers for an upcoming event? You want someone who is passionate, relatable, and will bring forth the Word of God in a way that challenges and encourages. Whether it is your first time planning an event or you have done it year after year, it can sometimes be a daunting task.
As a woman called to speak, I have taught at many women’s and girls’ retreats and conferences over the years. Gathering maturing and praying women together is a special opportunity and reveals unique facets of the Body of Christ!
Finding quality Christian women’s conference speakers is important, so here are three questions to consider when picking a woman speaker. The answers to these questions help us all to see the Biblical faithfulness of any speaker.
1. Is the Word of God at the front?
Quality Christian women’s conference speakers have a passion for the Word of God both in their personal lives and as they teach. They must be pointing to the Author and Perfecter of our faith, through the written word of Scripture.
As a speaker, I always want those who hear to walk away with a desire to dig into Scripture on their own. I make it a point to have a physical Bible that I teach from and take time in my message to point out where a passage is in my Bible. For students and kids, I may make a game of it, seeing who can get to the passage the fastest.
When approaching a passage, I want to be sure to give the context and allow listeners to jump into the story and “look around.” The strategy? If I can help others do Bible study during my message, then they may be able to take that home. Many fantastic Christian women’s conference speakers do this same thing and find that those in their gatherings seek out asking good questions about Scripture in their small groups as a result!
At the core of this question is the commitment to Scripture that Christian women’s conference speakers have. You will know where they spend their time based on what pours out of them. Are they filled with the living water that Christ offers in His Word and presence? Is there depth behind their words, and are they shining light from Scripture?
2. Who are they off the platform?
I was at a large youth conference one time, and there was a Christian women’s conference speaker who was brilliant. I mean, seriously! She brought Scripture to life, and the Lord used her to bring hundreds of students to faith, both in a first-time commitment and recommitment.
But she only engaged with us from the stage. I want to be a Christian women’s conference speaker who sticks around and is present outside of the platform. At Forge, we have a saying that we hold close: “Be better up close than you are up front.” Why? Because you can impress from afar, but you impact up-close.
You never know the conversations you will get to have as you talk casually with people. There is an even deeper impact than what you say from the platform. Up-close conversations can build what a speaker says from the platform because there is earned trust when a speaker shows up to places that they are not “required” to be.
When looking for Christian women’s conference speakers consider whether they will engage and support the people leading small groups, running games, or serving food. Where will they sit at mealtime? Off by themselves, with leaders, or with the people they are speaking to? What comes out of them up-close?
3. Do they faithfully follow?
The apostle Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” That was a lot of pressure to put on himself to keep it together, but he was confident that leaning into his community and standing on the firm foundation of the truth of Christ and the Gospel would be sufficient even in his weakness.
A strong theme in Scripture is that when looking for a leader, do not look at the outer appearance but at the heart of a person (1 Samuel 16:7). The same is true when looking for Christian women’s conference speakers of any kind. Do their lives reflect a heart for the Lord? How are they serving their local church? How do they care for their family?
For the one who is faithful with little will also be faithful with much (Luke 16:10).
