Scripture Focus:
Luke 2:19 (NIV) — “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
Christmas Eve has a way of shining a light on your heart, showing the hope, the doubt, the excitement, or even the weariness you might be carrying. The wild part? God met people in the Christmas story right where their hearts were—just like He wants to meet you.
It’s easy to rush through the parts of the story we think we already know, skipping details and moving past the people. If you slow down, you will start to see hearts that look a lot like yours. Mary, holding wonder and weight all at once. Joseph, stepping forward with more questions than answers. The shepherds, just doing their everyday work, suddenly face-to-face with God. The wise men, following a light they barely understand. And the crowds: busy, distracted, walking right past the miracle.
Mary’s response? She treasured the moment. She pondered it. She didn’t have it all figured out, and she didn’t rush past the messy or the hard. She let God meet her where she was. That’s the invitation for you, too.
The story is big enough for your season, whatever it looks like. God is ready to meet you in joy, in exhaustion, in uncertainty, even in silence. Wherever your heart is—steady, tired, searching, grateful, confused—He wants to meet you there.
Weekly Challenge:
Read Luke 2 slowly sometime tonight or tomorrow. Ask God: “Where am I in this story this year? What do You want to show me here?” Try not to focus on where you think you should be, or where anyone else expects you to be. Where is your heart actually? Let Him meet you there.
