“Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person.”
Do you ever wonder how you are called to serve God? I know sometimes I can get paralyzed in wanting to know God’s personal will for my life. What if God’s will and what He wants is different from what YOU want?
Would His will and His call on your life still be ok with you?
Biblical Characters Called to Serve God
I look at the long list of people that God used in Scripture for His purposes and how He gifted each person individually to complete a task. We often think of famous characters like Moses, who God called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. We think of David, who was called to be the king of Israel. And maybe we even think of Noah, who was called to build an Ark to save his family, animals and to repopulate the Earth after a worldwide flood.
We look up to these giants of the faith, but God calls us to serve Him in any way He chooses, and He has uniquely gifted each of us to do that.

There are hundreds of lesser-known Biblical characters who were just as called to serve God even though we may not know their names. Have you ever heard of the Koathites? Perhaps not, but the men of this family were used by God in Numbers 4 to be directly responsible for the holy objects in the tent of meeting.
What about a woman named Abijah? Abijah, no doubt, had a godly influence over her son, Hezekiah, who brought revival to Israel even though his dad, Ahaz, was evil.
There is no such thing as a “small” calling to serve God.
Be ready and open to be used by the Lord in any way He chooses—no matter how big or small it seems to you. There is no such thing as a “small” calling to serve God.
You may know how He has gifted you, but He may want to take you out of your comfort zone to try something new. You may NOT know how He has gifted you, and that’s ok. Prayerfully consider taking a Spiritual Gifts Test.
But the most important element is to simply humble yourself and serve when God brings needs across your path.

Thank the Lord today for how He has gifted you, and ask Him to show you how He wants you to serve Him. Then, go do it!
