If we are called to “flee from sin,” are we removing the habits in our lives that are stumbling blocks? If we are called to “do everything without grumbling and complaining,” are we simply trying to use self-control by holding our tongues, or are we applying God’s Word by replacing our negative words with praise and thanksgiving?

Just as a firm foundation has support to help it weather storms, so Christ has given us His body to help uphold one another. James 5:16 calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other so that we may be healed of our sins. God designed us for community and did not intend for us to do this life alone. The Church gives us a way to link arms with other believers to keep one another accountable and to sharpen one another in applying God’s Word to our lives.

Finally, when God has taught you something or caused a much-needed change to occur in your life, don’t keep it to yourself—share it! It doesn’t have to be complex; just tell your story of how you were, what Jesus taught you, and how He changed you to be the new person you are now.
