Scripture Focus:
Luke 24:32 (NIV) — “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Last week, we explored how God sparks hearts through His presence, courage, and calling. Those sparks—like Moses at the burning bush, the pillar of fire in the wilderness, or Elijah on Mount Carmel—remind us that God meets ordinary people and invites them into extraordinary purposes. This week, we turn our focus to what happens next: how those sparks shape the way we live and step into the purpose God has for us.
After His resurrection, Jesus walked with two of His followers on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35). As He explained the Scriptures to them, their hearts burned within them. God still sparks hearts today, awakening faith and inviting ordinary people into extraordinary purposes. Those sparks often show up as new clarity, courage to act, or a sense of direction in everyday life. Where do you sense God igniting your heart?
One way to reflect on this is through the word IGNITE:
- I — I matter to the Lord. I can do something. God delights in using ordinary people who are willing to follow Him.
- G — God is my strength and zeal. The work of the Kingdom does not depend on our energy alone. God Himself sustains us.
- N — Now is the time for harvest. The opportunity to share the good news is already around us, and people are ready!
- I — Intimacy with God fuels the labor. The deeper we walk with God, the more our lives reflect His heart for the world.
- T — To the ends of the earth. God’s mission has always reached beyond borders, cultures, and languages (Acts 1:8).
- E — Every day, everywhere. The Kingdom advances not only in big moments, but in ordinary places through faithful people.
When God ignites a heart, ordinary moments take on new meaning. Courage grows. Compassion deepens. Faith becomes active, shaping not only how we see ourselves but also how we serve and interact with the world around us. God’s sparks often start small, but they ripple outward, influencing family, work, relationships, and communities in ways we might not see at first.

This week, reflect on each part of the IGNITE acronym. Ask God to show where He is awakening your heart in this season, and notice how He might be inviting you to live out that purpose in your everyday life.
