Resurrection Sunday fills our churches! Praise songs ring out, faces are bright, and for one day, we’re wide awake to the story that changed everything. But a week later, it’s easy to let that energy slip away. Life keeps coming with its bills, messes, and fears. Does Resurrection Sunday really change our lives?
The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just one day on the calendar. It’s the start of our new lives right here, every day. Jesus rising from the dead was never meant to stay just His. It marks a turning point for you, me, and anyone who believes in Him. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
New Life Isn’t Just a Metaphor
When Jesus left the grave, He broke the power of death, shame, and fear, not just for Himself but for you. If you believe He walked out, then your fear, regrets, and failures don’t get the final word. That’s the promise. New life isn’t a metaphor—it’s what you get to choose to step into in Christ, even on hard days.
So what does this look like on a regular Wednesday? It means showing up for people who feel alone, even if you’re tired. It means speaking forgiveness instead of anger, trying again after you mess up. Generosity, not scarcity. Advocacy, not silence. Courage, not fear. Real hope, not just words. The moments might seem small—helping a neighbor, apologizing, sitting with someone who’s hurting—but these are the seeds of new life. Tiny acts of love add up.
Living by the Spirit: The Real Work
Resurrection is a call to a new life filled by the Holy Spirit. It’s bold love—especially when it’s hard. It’s loving God and loving others every day, everywhere—the life of a Kingdom Laborer! It’s about letting God’s Spirit show up in how you talk to your kids, what you do at work, who you invite to your table. Galatians says, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). If you belong to Jesus, let Him shape your choices.
God’s dream isn’t for a church full of polite people playing it safe. He wants a community of Kingdom Laborers alive with hope and courage. People who don’t just avoid what’s wrong but chase what’s good—people who prove that grace keeps showing up, even when life is tough.
