Scripture Focus:
“Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years…” – Deuteronomy 8:2 (NIV)
As we enter Thanksgiving, it’s easy to focus on the food, the decorations, or the busyness of the day. But this season invites something bigger: remembering.
In Scripture, remembering wasn’t just looking back at things that happened in the past. God gave His people this practice so they wouldn’t forget who He is and how He had carried them. Remembering helped them trust His character, follow His guidance, and face what was ahead with courage.
When we pause to remember God’s faithfulness, something shifts. Gratitude becomes alive. Praise rises naturally. We notice the ordinary ways He’s been present—the conversations that encouraged us, the moments we didn’t even realize He was at work, the strength He provided when we didn’t see it coming. Remembering opens our eyes to God’s movement in our lives, and gives us energy and hope for what’s next.
This week may bring the joy of family meals, old traditions, and laughter—but it can also bring the ache of empty seats at the table, stressful conversations, or even feeling heavy because of all the pressures that tend to start to pile up during the season. Remembering God’s faithfulness helps us see how He has been with us through both the easy days and the hard ones, inviting us to celebrate His presence in every moment.
Weekly Challenge:
During a meal, a commute, or a quiet moment, take some time to reflect on three ways God has been faithful this year.
