I saw where Instagram had several TikTok posts and millions of views revolving around a robot wedding. Yes, you did read that correctly. Someone married a robot. The posts alluded to the fact that it is a “new trend.” The similar posts all appeared to have an intriguing video clip that was captured in the middle of a beautiful church with picturesque stained glass and many supportive guests surrounding this dichotomy of a wedding ceremony with a bionic bride and human groom.
The post started out with the words, “Incredible but true. . .” It went on to describe a senior citizen man getting married to his new bride—an AI-powered robot. It explained the groom was desiring to have a peaceful life that was free of complications that may come with human relationships. The content said an increased number of older men are choosing AI-robot wives because of their loyalty, calm nature, and the absence of human drama and further highlighted that with the advancement of AI, robotic brides are becoming hot commodities. Is that true? How do we know?
How did we get here? How are we at a place where a man would walk down the aisle to say, “I do,” to a robot? And, to further hear words like . . . “Incredible but true.”
It’s a sobering reminder that man has been questioning truth for thousands of years. I instantly thought of Pontius Pilate in the Bible when he asked Jesus directly, “What is truth?” In John 18:37-38 we read, “Then Pilate said to Him, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.’ Pilate said to Him, ‘What is truth?’ After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, ‘I find no guilt in Him’” (ESV).
Jesus knew people would have a problem understanding Him and comprehending truth, and He addressed it clearly.
In the same book of John a few chapters earlier in John 14:1-7 Jesus is on record saying, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.’ Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him’” (ESV).
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” There is no questioning what truth is! Jesus is Truth.
Acts 1:1-3 says, “The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (NKJV).
I love how the New King James Version of the Bible uses the word infallible when describing the proofs that Jesus presented to the apostles when He showed Himself alive after His death on the cross. Jesus is Truth, and we have many infallible proofs! He is incapable of being wrong and will never fail.
Regardless of what we face in this world with various forms of AI, we can rest assured in the One and Only Truth, and He is Jesus Christ.
What are you encountering that may have the facade of truth, but remains questionable? Have you considered and declared that Jesus Himself is Truth? Be vigilant and diligent to know the Truth that will set you free. John 8:31-32 says, “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you abide in My Word, you are truly My Disciples, and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free’” (ESV).
